Lake Titicaca 

This massive lake is the world’s highest navigable body of water and creates a natural border between Peru and Bolivia. According to Andean legend, Lake Titicaca was the cradle of civilization and birthplace of the first Inca.

Sillustani 

Only 40kms from the center of Puno, this pre-Inca cemetery is the area’s main archaeological attraction, having imposing tower-like tombs, called chullpas. The elaborate graves at Sillustani were constructed by the Aymara people, for whom ancestor veneration was an important religious tradition. 

Uros Floating Islands 

The Uros people of Lake Titicaca live an intriguing lifestyle; deeply traditional and very unique. For centuries they have lived entirely on floating islands, fashioned from the totora reed which grows abundantly along the edges of the lake. Many islands now offer tours or homestays, giving curious visitors a glimpse into their extraordinary way of life.
